API KH Test. The API Freshwater/Saltwater KH test is a great asset when attempting to stabilize pH levels. Low KH (carbonate hardness) levels allow easier fluctuation of pH levels, which is very stressful to fish. Reef aquarists pay particular attention to KH because high KH allows corals to better use calcium in their skeletons.
