NEKTON-Rep-Calcium-Pur+ is a calcium-rich mineral supplement designed for reptiles and amphibians that already receive sufficient UVB lighting or natural sunlight. It contains no added vitamin D3 and is intended for animals that form their own vitamin D through appropriate exposure to UVB radiation.
This supplement contributes to stable skeletal structure, shell quality, and normal muscle function by increasing the calcium content of the daily ration. Species that eat relatively small quantities of food rely on well-balanced diets, making reliable supplies of minerals and trace elements especially significant. Growing animals and breeding females often have an elevated demand for calcium and associated minerals.
In nature, many reptiles and amphibians take in extra calcium alongside their usual prey items. Feeder insects generally provide only limited calcium unless dusted or otherwise fortified, which can lead to an ongoing shortfall without targeted supplementation. Regular use of a dedicated mineral blend supports long-term mineral balance and helps align terrarium feeding practices with natural patterns.
Effective calcium utilization requires vitamin D, which can be produced within the animal’s skin under suitable UVB radiation. When the light intensity, spectrum, and duration match the needs of the species, additional vitamin D in the diet is often unnecessary, and the body can process calcium efficiently. Species originating from high-sun habitats typically require stronger or more prolonged UVB exposure to achieve comparable effects.
