Simplicity GFO is a granular ferric oxide media designed to capture phosphate, silicate, and dissolved organics from aquarium water. By reducing these compounds, it supports coral vitality, enhances coloration, and limits the growth of unwanted algae.

Function

This media binds excess phosphate, silicate, and other impurities, improving overall water quality. In balanced amounts, phosphate is necessary for coral metabolism, but elevated levels hinder growth and encourage algae. By locking these compounds within the media, Simplicity GFO prevents them from leaching back into the system.

Specifications

• Aquarium Type: Freshwater and saltwater
• Dosage: Begin with ½ cup (120 mL) per 50 gallons (189 L) in saltwater or ½ cup (120 mL) per 100 gallons (379 L) in freshwater. Do not exceed ½ cup (120 mL) per 25 gallons (95 L) in saltwater or ½ cup (120 mL) per 50 gallons (189 L) in freshwater.
• Usage: Rinse before placing in the system. For optimal results, use in a media reactor with gentle flow so the top layer moves slightly without tumbling. Alternatively, place in a tightly packed filter media bag positioned in a high-flow area of the sump or filter.
• Replacement: Test phosphate weekly and replace the media when levels begin to rise, typically every 4 weeks.
