Medpet Trimethoprim Sulfa is a water-soluble, broad-spectrum antimicrobial and anticoccidial powder formulated for use in pigeons and small companion birds. It is intended for the management of intestinal and systemic bacterial conditions, including coccidial infections, paratyphoid, and E. coli-related disease.

Directions for use

• Mixing rate: Dissolve 1 level teaspoon (5 mL) of powder in 1 gallon (3.8 L) of clean drinking water.
• Treatment length: Offer the prepared solution for 5 to 7 consecutive days, according to the advised course.
• Water access: Provide only the medicated water during the dosing period so that birds receive the full intended amount.
• Hygiene: Replace drinking water daily with a freshly mixed solution and ensure containers are thoroughly cleaned before refilling.

After-course support

Because antimicrobial therapy may alter normal intestinal microflora, many avian care protocols include a follow-up phase using appropriate vitamin supplements and probiotic products to help re-establish digestive balance and support natural immune function once the treatment course is complete.
